EPA may improve the cardiovascular system by reducing the stickiness of platelets in the blood and by lowering blood pressure. It is also converted into prostaglandins (hormone-like substances which control many bodily functions) and leukotrienes (important for the correct functioning of the immune system) which regulate inflammation and pain, and also help to maintain healthy joints.
